Rockets A Team Shuts Out Knights

Westford/Acton Boxborough Knights and The Rockets A Team both went into Sunday’s game with a 3 and 0 records. But the Rockets defense and offensive throwing game led the team to victory. The day started with the Rockets winning the toss. Giacomo Iapicca kicking and landing the ball on the 34 yard line. The Knights took possession. Joe Puglielli had the first tackle of the day followed by Aiden Bekkenhuis, Alec Grande, Eamon Centrella and Alex DiNapoli. The play of the day came when Ethan Bean blocked the punt securing the ball for the Rockets. The Offense took the field and James Murphy started with a long pass to Luke Benson. Knight’s defense held strong and the Rockets came up short of a first down.

The second quarter started with the Knights on the 15 yard line. Nick Votour led the tackling on the drive. Jesse Doherty, Eamon Centrella and Alex DiNapoli continued to put pressure on the Knights and forced a punt. Reading took possession on the 37 yard line. James Murphy pitched the ball to Jack Viera to move it downfield. Murphy continued to push forward and followed up with a long pass to Ryan Strout for the touchdown. 6 – 0 Rockets end of the second quarter.

The Knights came out stronger in the second half. Reading started with possession on their 4 yard line and after taking a penalty were pushed back to the two yard line. James Murphy had a long pass to Jesse Doherty to bring the team to the 38 yard line. The Knights shut down the offense and took possession on the 50 yard line. During the drive Alec Grande and Brady Swanson kept the Knights from picking up significant yardage. The Knights punted the ball and again Ethan Bean came up big and sacked the punter.

The final quarter stared with Reading in possession on the 46 yard line. James Murphy continued with a strong passing game to Jack Raimo, Jesse Doherty and Giacomo Iapicca. With Ryan O’Leary providing clean snaps James Murphy again threw the ball to Ryan Strout for the touchdown.

With 5 minutes left in the game the Knights came close to scoring but their touchdown was called back on a penalty. Jesse Doherty, Aidan Bekkenhuis, Alex DiNapoli, Josh Robichaud and Joe Puglielli all had good defensive plays. Final score Rockets 12 – 0.
