Reading Rockets Unlimited continues to roll with a 20-6 win over Billerica
The Reading Unlimited team came home after 3 straight road games and went 7-0 by beating a very good Billerica team, 20-6. Billerica was the first very good passing team the Rockets faced and the Rockets rose to the occasion.
On the Rockets’ first possession they moved down the field behind the blocking of Max Ramos, Giancarlo Musto, Peter Mirogiannis and Jay Kajander. The big plays were a 15 yard run by Lucas Fleming and a10 yard touchdown run by Dan Dimare.
Billerica came back to tie the score 6-6 using a very effective passing attack. The Rockets put pressure on Billerica’s quarterback with Dan O’Connor and Lucas Laurenza continually crashing through the Billerica line but the Billerica quarterback was very sharp in completing passes to well covered receivers.
In the second quarter Dominick Decrescenzo rumbled 20 yards for a touchdown. Adam Diemer, Logan Fortuna and Patrick Duross provided the blocking and the Rockets led 13-6 at halftime.
The Rockets established their defensive superiority early in the second half when Dan O’Connor and David Lynch knocked Billerica for a loss and Steven Needham and Pat Duross helped shut down that effective Billerica passing attack.
In the fourth quarter the Rockets were pinned down on their own 6 yard but drove the 94 yards for a touchdown. The offensive line of Anthony Massucci, Brendan Fox , David Lynch, Dillon Lee, Giancarlo Musto, Shaun Bekkenhuis and Patrick Dwyer dominated the line of scrimmage on the drive which was capped by a 15 yard touchdown run of Lucas Fleming.
Billerica had a little life left and moved down the field. One pass was broken up by Jaheim Nortelus and then Jonathan Grady sealed the victory with an interception at the 10 yard line.
