Reading Rockets B Team Defeats Burlington Patriots 28-6

  • October 24, 2016

The Rockets potent rushing attack was initially slowed by a tough Burlington defense, which led to a scoreless first quarter. In the second quarter, Coach Chuck Robinson turned to the air, and Nick Perez hit Derek Van Horn for a 15-yard touchdown which put the Rockets on the scoreboard. The teams went into halftime with Reading leading 6-0.

On their first possession of the second half, the Rockets finally got the running game in gear, with Perez and Van Horn carrying load, and Perez adding to the Rockets lead with a 12-yard run around left end to make the score 12-0.

After the Reading defense stopped Burlington again, the Rockets continued pounding the Patriots on the ground with Perez, Van Horn, Dana Isbell and Andrew Benassi taking turns gouging the Burlington defense, culminating in a 10-yard Isbell score. Ben Regazzini kicked the two-point conversion and the Rockets led 20-0.

The Reading defense, which had been stingy for the first three quarters, had a momentary lapse, resulting in a long Burlington touchdown run to cut the lead to 20-6, but the Rockets answered with another long drive. This time, Coach Robinson mixed in strong runs by Tyler Lindmark and Dylan Fadale to compliment the running of Perez, Van Horn, Benassi and Isbell, who also had an excellent defensive game. The Rockets punched in their fourth touchdown of the day on a beautiful 15-yard run by Benassi, behind the blocking of Regazzini, Colin Webb and Jack Keefe. Regazzini again kicked the two-point conversion to increase the Rockets lead to the final score of 28-6.
