READING, MA – The Reading Pop Warner C-team defeated Wilmington on Sunday in their season-opening game by a score of 7-0. The Reading defense player stellar throughout the game and came up big with a dramatic 4th down stop to seal the victory in the closing seconds of the game! The Rockets received great tackling by game Captains, Rocco Masciarelli & Aiden Bekkenhuis. Colby Goodchild had a tremendous all around game with a key interception and over 100 all-purpose yards (rushing and receiving).

Reading’s game-winning score came on a great “two-minute drill” to end the first half. James Murphy completed passes to Ryan Strout & Goodchild to set up the Rocket’s first touchdown of the season, a pass to tight-end Jesse Doherty. Murphy hit Bekkenhuis for a critical point-after conversion. The team got solid two-way play from Center/OLB Colin Donahue and Guard Josh Robichaud.

The Rockets next game takes them on the road to Saugus for their first road game of the young season.
